Luther and Faith
Excellent intro and use of slides Andy!
Luther has got to be one of most important theologians ever, in my opinion.
The question that I have is:
** What is the 'faith' that God seeks? **
Luther, in his day, defined it (I think) as an intellectual assent that God exists and that He justifies us by grace alone, not works.
I think the definition of faith needs to go much deeper: faith is an open-hearted trusting of God that recieves all that He wants to give us. As we are willing to see, hear and recieve His touch, we are truly transformed, more and more and more, into His image, into His righteousness.
Intellectual belief is necessary, but not sufficient. Without Relational Trust, without a Willingness to Experience God who is alive even now, who reveals Himself to us right now; no true transformation of our heart occurs.
We are transformed as we look fully into His face without veil, as we open the ears of our hearts towards Him, as we seek and recieve Him, His Way, His Wisdom, and His Love for us.
