Does your friend speak Mandarin or Cantonese? From my recollection, Mandarin speakers would want a Bible using Simplified Chinese characters and Cantonese speakers would one using Traditional Chinese characters. Once you know, if no one has that version lying around, I'll ask one of my friends who attends a Chinese church to see if he can pick one up.

Also, there is something available on the web too. Go to http://www.biblegateway.com and click the drop-down list for versions. Right at the bottom of the list, you should see both the Simplified and Traditional Character versions.
