We have a really amazing month coming up in simplechurches. Along with our normal life together, we have the privilege of seeing people from our churches visit both of our international projects. As you all know, the Toews are leaving for the Ukraine at the beginning of next week. Along with a team from another church - Greendale Mennonite - they have raised over $60,000. Much of which will be used for the development of a rehab centre. It's really exciting to be sending them out on this important work. In addition to the Toews, those of you who couldn't make last months CityWide might not know that Derek Furtney was selected to travel to China on behalf of our churches. He will be leaving on the 19th to spend a week visiting the Heng Yang and Changsha projects and will finish his time by participating in the "Walk the Wall" fundraiser - on the wall! It's going to be a great experience! Participating with Derek will be team members from around the world, including our own Trevor Johnston. Trevor is again travelling to film material that will be used in later promotional material. He will be accompanied by photographer Dave Delnea, whom man of you know, and who is the brother of Erin Johnston. Phew! It's all really exciting and wonderful. I so hope that more of us can experience these opportunities in the years ahead. Blogs and UpdatesAs for updates, highlights from the Toew's experience will be posted regularly on the Hungry for Life website www.hfl.org I will also try to post regular links to it on our blog. Derek on the other hand, like myself last year, will be able to post his own updates on our website. This will be somewhat limited by internet access, but he should be able to drop us at least a few notes. So, be sure to watch the website frequently over the next few weeks.... and as you read the updates, please pray for the Ukraine, China and our friends who are travelling abroad. |
