Our Vision is Jesus | January 2012 Thoughts...

[ ]

For fear that the point of this reflection gets lost in a tendency to write with more “literary flourish” than necessary (oh look, I’ve already started), I’ll instead get right to the point:

Our vision is Jesus.

I’ve said this a number of times over the past year, but if there is one thing that I have learned since we started this church, it’s that we live in a city where not many share a similar sentiment. And sadly, I fear that those who claim to, if they were really honest, sense that their vision has gotten a little blurry.

Give Him Your Warmest Smile | December 2011 Thoughts

[ ]

The best time of the day is right after nap time. Not my nap time, I’m not a big napper. Ella’s nap time. Somewhere in the house I’ll be working, and the silence of the space will be interrupted by her post nap squawks. Up the stairs and a short walk across the landing, I’ll crack the door to her darkened room. Looking back from the crib below, there she’ll be. It’s the best time of the day.

Kingdom Entrepreneurs | November 2011 Thoughts...

[ ]

I just arrived home from two days away in Whistler. 15 guys from around the province joined together for two days of prayer and camaraderie. All of us were church planters. Six were bi-vocational (meaning that church planting was just part of how they filled their weeks); two were from the downtown eastside; one was from a plant in northern BC, devoted to the first nations people in the area; and another was spanish speaking, reaching out to the Latino immigrants now living in Surrey.

Sad News

[ ]

Hi gang....

It with great sadness that I pass along that Joanna Anderson's father, Steve, passed away last night. Steve had been dealing with various health challenges over the past couple of years, but the passing was still quite sudden. Joanna will be coming home to be with her family.

Let's be praying for our beloved Joanna and her family.

I will post details re: funeral etc., as I hear them.

A simple idea for simple people

Hi all... so we've got a little idea. From time to time everyone encounters people that are in need of a meal, right? You also probably know that sometimes it can be hard to get the food together. You're busy - a full family with a full schedule - and so the good intention gets left in the pile of good intentions.

Enter... "Freezers of Grace".

Rebecca's 5 Year Anniversary Cake!

[ ]

Hi all... it was great to celebrate 5 years of simplechurch with you yesterday! It felt like the Spirit was with us in a special way - filling our hearts with joy! It was also great to hear from Teresa and Kara about the new works beginning to emerge. Friends... the rest of us will continue to pray for God to work.

I wanted to post the write up that Rebecca did for the cake she made yesterday. It was such a thoughtful gift - it was almost a shame to have eaten it. Perhaps posting it here will help us save it for future reference.

Thanks again, Rebecca!
