An Overseas Treasure

Ahoy Maties!

This is Kaile B here wanting to share with you a jem. A few years ago I got to visit my sponcer child Jose, in Colombia, South America. The plan was to meet his family and see the after school project Jose attends every day after school. Three days before our meeting was suppost to take place, I recieved an e-mail and was told that a taxi driver who was bringing tourists into the area had been shot. This tragic event, could have prevented our meeting, but fortunately the compassion worker was flexible and I was still able to meet Jose and his mom at a local mall.

Meeting Jose face to face and having established a relationship through letters over three years, I got to see first hand how my measly $35 dollars a month had impacted his life. At the project he recieved food, help with his homework, medical attention, and training for his future. His mother had tears in her eyes when she thanked me. Jose had kept every letter and picture I had send him and brought them to show me.

I sometimes get overwhelmed and discouraged when I think about the thousands of needy children on our planet. God aches for these, his orphans and treasures. Although I haven't done much, I HAVE done something in Jose's life. The evidence is overwhelming. I know many of you already support a child or children overseas and I'm proud of you. If you do not, I encourage you to pray and consider if you would like the opportunity for a pen-pal overseas. I am currently partnering with Compassion Canada and they are a highly respected agency. They have great financial integrity with 80% of their money going directlly to the children while only 20% is used for fundraising and administration. Right now I have 9 children that I am praying to find sponcers for. Please consider this opportunity . . . WARNING . . . it may cause you to find a treaure half way around the world. Good Stuff KB...

Hey thanks for the challenge KB.

Jolie and I have had a child for many years through Compassion and are so impressed with how the organization handles its resources and more importantly, its children. Our little boy, Tessema, is from Ethiopia and we both send and receive regular updates. It's a pretty neat relationship that has developed through letters and gifts. I don't know that we will ever have the chance to visit him personally, but even the knowledge that we can bless him as he blesses us is a gift in itself.

I highly recommend this to anyone that has yet to sponsor an international child.
