Encouragement

Here is an encouragement from Eugene Peterson (again) on prayer!

Everything and every person has an interior. Prayer goes beneath the surface and penetrates to the heart of the matter. Unlike mere action, prayer is not subject to immediate evaluation or verification. If we are addicted to "results" we will quickly lost interest in prayer. When we pray we willingly participate in what God is doing, without knowing precisely what God is doing, how God is doing it, or when we will know what is going on - if ever.

I found this encouraging when thinking about Tuesdays and how sometimes nothing really seems to come of it, so have heart! Keep it up, God moves even when we don't see it!

day of prayer ends with cherios

Just finished my bowl of cherios. it's 9:30pm
This was a day I had written in at the beginning of the year as a day of prayer & fasting

so yesterday, I felt the huge snowball rolling in on my day. All kinds of calls for immediate things.
All these requirements meant my prayer day would also mean an intense work day, not what I had in mind. Prayer day is where you spend time on your knees praying. I had made a long list of top people to pray for and their key issues, and was primed for a good discussion with MY BOSS. Then a friend on my prayer list phoned to have breakfast, and of course the only day was wednesday. I knew this before he stated that it was the only, yes only day available for him, but the rule is if he is on my prayer list, of course we will go out for breakfast..it's just putting feet to your prayers, anyway I would know how to pray for him after he explained all the details of his problem.
the phone never stopped ringing, and I tried hard to get the work done, so I could set more quiet time aside for prayer. but everything was urgent.
so at breakfast ( whitespot ) I ordered porridge, instead of bacon and eggs to keep it more low key, and then went to JJ Bean after he left for a real cup of coffee.
by supper time my stomach was grinding, exactly as it should on a day of fasting.
got to spend the evening praying, and still have time left before midnight to talk to the BOSS about all the issues I wanted to chat about, ask HIS advice about, laugh about, thanksgiving galore for so many things, plus HIS special kindness.
today was a $1200 day. Ruth got $500 from an aunt in Manitoba, and I got $700 cash from a friend
who called at 10am for a panic coffee. Ruth and I rejoiced for the funds that are coming in for Ukraine. The team raised $4000. on sunday at a watermelon and rolkucken feast in Chilliwack
total so far is almost $50,000. with people still telling me they have money to give.
yes Ukraine and Walk the wall are on the prayer list today
so is a stack of missionaries, like Haradas, Dayna, Wisemans in Israel, who give all to the LORD.

Ruth and I know GOD answers prayers, but in the prayer times HE also gives guidance as thots come into your brain that were never there before. What a joy to talk to the BOSS. no longdistance or roaming charges, and an instant connection, no dropped calls. yes there is voice recognition software. HE created me, HE is in total control of every situation I am in, whether I like it or not.

What a priviledge to be a follower of CHRIST!
time to light the candle!
Knee mail is lots of fun.
