Hey all, I started reading the cost of discipleship the other day; after finishing the first chapter I realized that this book would be best read with others. I am wondering if anyone wants to read it with me/start a book club? We could meet up once every few weeks and talk about a chapter or two. OK, I'll check back here in a few days to see if anyone is interested. Derek PS - I used html!!! I'd be game.Submitted by andy on Mon, 2010-01-11 16:30.
I have the book on my shelf but have never actually read through it. A classic of the faith for those who are perhaps unaware. Written by Dietrich Bonhoeffer (February 4, 1906 – April 9, 1945) here's what wiki says about the man: ... was a German Lutheran pastor and theologian. He was also a participant in the German Resistance movement against Nazism, a founding member of the Confessing Church. His involvement in plans by members of the Abwehr (the German Military Intelligence Office) to assassinate Adolf Hitler resulted in his arrest in April 1943 and his subsequent execution by hanging in April 1945, shortly before the war's end. His view of Christianity's role in the secular world has become very influential.[1 |

I tried it
once.
I liked the first few chapters but remember it to be harder reading than I was ready for. It would be so awesome in a group.
Sorry I can't right now as I have some others on the go.
