feet of the poor

I was reading a Psalm last night before going to bed and was hit by one of the verses.

Psalm 26:5-6:

He humbles those who dwell on high, he lays the lofty city low; he levels it to the ground and casts it down to the dust. Feet trample it down--the feet of the oppressed, the footsteps of the poor.

This stood out to me as being very powerful; the idea of the poor being the ones trampling down that lofty city. Apart from this verse, I have also been reading, "The Irresistable Revolution" which is a fantasic book with a fantastic message. It challenges me to live differently and to not shrink back from the eyes of those in need, but to look into them and as the author says, "see the face of Jesus."

I have loved reading about this revolution. I really like the way Shane Claiborne says it should be a, "revolution that dances and laughs"

just some thoughts.

CHRIST'S Mission Statement

from Isaiah 61 : 1

The SPIRIT OF THE LORD is upon ME
because the LORD has anointed ME,
to preach good tidings to the poor!
HE has sent ME to heal the brokenhearted
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound
to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.

and so JESUS ended HIS reading of the text for that day and sat down.
Luke 4: 18
