so...i've been taken by some thoughts lately. Going out and helping people in need is wonderful, however i feel that it needs to be more than just that. i believe we've talked about this recently, about not just being charitable but being passionate and giving from the heart. I just get so annoyed sometimes how we tend to go out thinking we're so great and are on a mission bring such change to people instead of just going out and simply loving people for them and who they are. Even the words, "going out" and "mission" hit me in a bad way. There is something lacking in just helping because it's the right thing to do. There is something so sad in that. I don't want to categorize people or put people into groups etc. I want to see people--really see them. I don't know if i'm making much sense, but this has been on my heart.Anywho, just some thoughts.

exactly right

what i've appreciated so much abt the simple church and the guy (who i know but whose name i forget) from 614 who spoke at our little conf a couple weeks ago is that they trumpet this also, joanna
and i love it that you are so strong and have made your mind up. God has been stirring.
i think we have every reason to help. bcse it is the thing the Holy Spirit is doing is the sum of them.
dave diewert said this also. he is just friends. just friends. it is the debt we owe to God and man. love. friendship

Agreed.

Hey you! I agree with what you have to say. So often we enter a situation thinking that we are going to be the ones to bless the world, and then they end up blessing us even more! I don't like the mentality of going out to "change the world" but then just returning to our comfortable lives. You are right in saying that it's about love! Just simply loving people where they are at. I think there's something so wonderful about that image! I've been thinking about how Jesus loves me for who I am, messy brokenness and all. I think we should treat other people with that same kind of unconditional love. Let's keep asking Jesus for passion for our neighbours! I echo Anna... I like your thoughts :)

yes!

Hey Joanna,
I completely relate to that. Sometimes I get overwhelmed thinking about trying to be a good person and help people, yet it's so much more natural than the words 'going out' and 'mission' sound like. I think we already do it sometimes when we aren't thinking about it (though being intentional is really good too).

I like your thoughts.
