What's on your Christmas list?

I came across a great little blog as I was preparing for today, the Advent Sunday of joy, and so I shared this with our church. Here are the opening lines:

I agree that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” But I also quite like to receive, don’t you? And other people who love me want to know what to get me, so I help them by composing a Christmas list. Plus it’s fun to finally just put right down there what I really, really want.

Read the whole thing here and then ask, what does the Father want on your list?

Hmm...

What if I want both? What if I want all that God has for me... the land and all that stuff, but what if I also want the new TV?

This, I suspect, is where many North American believers are at. We have heard the promises of God - and we're all for them. Praise the Lord! We want them. But, we - the good North Americans that we are - have been trained, carefully, methodically, in that great school called Consumption Academy. And so, when it comes right down to it, we don't just want the fruit of the Spirit, but we also want the fruit of Aritzia, Lululemon, and Apple....

And this is where things get confusing... What do we do when we want all that God has... but we also want more?

What do we do when what God has offered just isn't enough?
