Hi Church,

I was in my 'time' last night at home after a busy day... finally took time to lay down and just be.

My room mate is away, so I am taking care of her cat Max. Max came from a rough background... He was a stray, skrony, frightened little camp kitten when she rescued him about 7 years ago. He use to freak out at the sight of people. She says he has really come a long way. He is still very cautious and gets startled easily... but he's kinda grown on me (I'm not a cat lover).

Max had not had much attention all day. As I lay on the couch, I could tell he was starving for some human contact... some connectedness. It takes him about 5 minutes to decide he wants to jump up on to the couch... I watched him as he slowly came over to me... looked at me with his longing eyes, rocked forward and back assessing how he was going to get up on the couch.

In my mind I thought of my own human longing for connectedness and human contact and how Jesus calls us to HIM... Come Rebecca, come jump up on my lap, I welcome you, cuddle with me... Jump up, snuggle in... come and connect.

So Max slowly jumped up, found his spot on top of the lumpy fleece blanket and snuggled in. We lay there and listened to a Daryl Evans CD. As I patted his head, he purrrred so contentedly, lights dim, just enjoying the rest, comfort and presense of us... Max, Bec and Jesus :)
