Opened Eyes

It was such a blessing and privilege to be able to anoint my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ with oil and pray over them that they may see the world through the eyes of Jesus on Sunday. Over the last week the Lord has been reminding me of how significant that prayer really is. I think we can easily forget how much our daily lives not only impact the way we see the world, but also the way we view God and how He relates to us. Through our experiences in life we develop a certain paradigm that shapes our thoughts and affects our actions. This is why it is important to ask the Lord to “reprogram” our thoughts and feelings to be in tune with His paradigm. Jesus touched on this in His sermon on reprogramming (aka The Sermon on the Mount – see Matthew 5-7). “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (Matthew 6:22-23). In other words, the whole body (heart and mind included) will be affected by what is taken in visually. So let us together “. . . fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith . . .” (Hebrews 12:2). Blessings on you all this week! |
