What to Bring:

For the dinner, please bring sandwiches (or something similar) for you and your family. The Lonsdale church will help with the rest: chips, veggies, fruit, deserts, drinks etc. Also, if a few of us could make an extra sandwich or two that would be great - just in case some forget or we have visitors that weren't prepared.

As we talked about at our last council meeting, we want these meals to be very simple- so that churches are not overly burdened in preparation.

And yes, please bring the usual plates, cups and cutlery to help cut down on waste.

What is Happening?

A little of the usual - a little of the unusual. We're going to have worship and prayer together, then we're going to have an update on what is happening in the life of Karen Friesen - one of our own who is serving at a medical clinic in Zambia for the year. We're also going to have an open discussion around some of the "Kingdom of God" themes we have been learning about over the past few months. In our teaching to this point, we've been exploring much of the scripture/theory/history behind the kingdom - this Sunday we're going to wrestle together with the question: what does it all mean? Finally, we'll wrap everything up with a nice community meal.

Interim Council Affirmation

As Jonathan mentioned at the last CityWide and in the last newsletter we are in need of selecting and affirming an interim council that will serve us until our first annual meeting. Seven people have offered to serve us in this capacity and this Sunday we are hoping to lay hands on them and pray for them. Those desiring to serve are:
Jonathan Friesen
Jason Irvine
Taryn Herriot
Sig and Ruth Toews
Jolie Lambkin
Brent Mansfield

If you know of any reason why any of these would be unfit to serve, please contact either Jonathan or Andy with your concern. Otherwise, give thanks to God for a wonderful and diverse group of people each with a heart for simplechurches and the kingdom of God!
