Description

On May 23, 0033 A.D., the Spirit fell on a group of people praying in a little room. It was to be a massive announcement of hope and purpose - having dramatic impact on life within the Kingdom. Unfortunately, much of that announcement has been obscured and forgotten.

This DeeperLife, lets reclaim its meaning together.

Further Background

Over the summer, 8 podcasts were uploaded exploring the story of Pentecost found in Acts 2. For those who are perhaps unfamiliar with it, the Pentecost story found in Acts details in dramatic fashion the day that God’s Spirit was poured out on the earliest followers of Jesus. An event, which had been anticipated for literally hundreds of years. It is one of the most incredible stories in the New Testament, chronicling an event which would radically transform how people would interact with God, live for him, and carry out his mission of love in the world. Bottom line: on that Pentecost, everything changed.

What most do not realize however, was that the day of Pentecost on which the Spirit came was also known as Shavoot. This was one of the highest festivals in the entire Jewish calendar, calling Jews from all over the world to return to Jerusalem. Shavoot, had a two-fold purpose: first, it was a time for Jews to celebrate the end of the Wheat Harvest and second it was a time for them to give thanks for the giving of “the law” to Moses.

In the summer Podcasts, we saw that the timing of the Spirit coming on this important holiday was no coincidence. Just the opposite. God was meaning to make a massive declaration. Declaration about what? “The Law” and “the harvest” - exactly what was being celebrated in Jerusalem. In the summer Podcasts we looked at what was being said about The Law. In this upcoming DeeperLife we are going to explore what was being said about the harvest.

______
As an aside, given all that the Spirit has been speaking to many about with regards to having “missionary Spirit’s”, it seems that the timing of this DeeperLife couldn’t be more perfect. It will be neat to see what the Spirit does in our churches through these times together.
