What is this all about?Over the past two months our fundraising planning group had an epiphany. It went like this. If we believe that God own's everything, then shouldn't part of our "fundraising" strategy involve asking him to miraculously provide? Of course! it seems like a no brainer. When we need things, our first response is to ask our Father. So, to this end, we decided we should have a day long "Strawberry Fast". What's with the Strawberries? In this years Lent meditations, Sig told a very personal story about his families past struggles with money. The story was about how God miraculously provided for them, and one of the signs of his provision came through the gift of strawberries to Ruth. Since then, every time they have needed something for themselves or another, they simply look at each other and recall = "Strawberries". A number of people were touched by the story... and so we decided to incorporate the idea in our fast. The PlanOn June 11th, we're going to spend the day eating strawberries. Breakfast, lunch, dinner we're going to have strawberries (be sure to buy some in the days prior). If you choose to fast and only eat strawberries on the day - even better. But here is the key, every time you eat a berry, ask God to miraculously provide, through our churches, for people in need. At the end of the day, we're going to break the fast with a big strawberry shortcake feast in the Lambkin's backyard. It's going to be an amazing day! |

STRAWBERRIES
RUTH WAS UP AND PRAYING VERY EARLY THIS MORNING.
When I got up, the fire was on, the coffee ready and a huge bowl of supersize ripe strawberries was on a kitchen stool in the middle of our prayer room.
Ruth was working on a list of THANKS TO GOD. As she spoke them to me, my heart jumped at each miracle of the past. She started with the strawberry story.
then we listed our KEY items for today. A good list! We keep this list in front of us and as is our tradition we meet every hour to raise these KEY items before the throne of "mercy and grace", as we know who can do anything and to whom NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE, and....who answers prayer way beyond our expectations in a fashion so unique, it blows every fuse you have in your brain.
so as the clock struck 9am, she had to get ready to look after Anna for a few hours and I was going to check my e-mails for any urgent JOB related issue.
On Tuesday of this week I had been up to Squamish for a site meeting. An issue came up that was very critical to the project, for which I needed the Director of Plannning to make a decision on. When I went to the City Hall, they suggested that the only possible appointment was Friday ( today ) which would greatly destroy my concept of a day of Fasting and Prayer. But I lifted it to the LORD, and said HE would need to work out the detail.. Well, yesterday, the City called to say the meeting had not been scheduled as yet and in all likely-hood it would occur nrxt week. Not great, but I thot better than Friday! When I opened up the e-mail The Director of Planning had already made a decision this morning at 8am and sent along a note to that effect by 8:33am. So I jumped for joy, and Ruth and I recorded our first answer of prayer for the day, but we are expecting many more!
Our reading this morning was from Acts 13, where the proconsul of Cyprus became a beleiver after witnessing a miracle. The chapter starts with FASTING and Prayer!!!! We try to read a chapter a day and discuss it before we lift all our friends and concerns to the LORD for HIS DUE DILIGENCE AND ANSWERS.
Praise be to GOD for HIS undescribable gift.
and the peace that passes all understanding!
