A Teaching Series

The following are recordings of a teaching series on "Jesus as the Christ" that I recently gave at a school in Whistler, B.C.. They are a compilation and distilling of all the themes I have been teaching on over the past 2 years at DeeperLife's and CityWides. While preparing I had the sense that they would end up as a valuable resource for our churches; revealing some of the essential themes of the scriptures in a package that should be accessible to everyone.

Someday, I would love to refine these even further and record them on video - for now though, the audio will have to do.

As you listen, my prayer is that your understanding of the whole of scriptures grows and as it does so, that you will see the wonder of Jesus as the fulfillment of the long story.

Is Jesus the Christ? Why should we care? Whether you know it or not, this is the core concern of scripture and the one question the whole world is united in discerning.

What to Expect

Is Jesus the Christ | Intro - This teaching was delivered on Sunday night for the whole church (Church on the Mountain), many of whom would not be attending the school. While setting the stage for what is to come, this teaching also stands on its own.

Is Jesus the Christ | Part 1a,b | The Journey Toward - This teaching (split into two parts) begins with the premise that we can't understand Jesus apart from the long story that precedes him. From there it gives a grand survey of the Old Testament, revealing how the whole story builds toward the arrival of this one, the Christ, who comes to bring "Good News".

Is Jesus the Christ | Part2a,b | The Life and Times - This teaching (split into two parts) examines the life and ministry of Jesus, while giving much historical background regarding what was happening in Israel at the time. It reveals that Jesus came to unveil himself as the long expected Christ. However, it also reveals that he did so to a people that were expecting someone and something vastly different than what he was offering.

Is Jesus the Christ | Part 3a,b | The Death and Resurrection - This teaching (split into two parts) looks at the death and resurrection of Jesus and how these events tie into Jesus work as the Christ.
