A thought about Jesus

[ ]

Since our theme is again JESUS, I wanted to share this short line I read this morning. These are thoughts from Romans 8 in the Message mixed up with mine.

"In Jesus we see the original and intended shape of our lives..."

We do experience the limitations of sin, but more than that we experience life on God's terms. What value He has placed on our everyday living; on our inside hearts and our outside relationships/character. The highest value one can give something is a life, isn't it?

We see that Jesus lived with power and kindness, courage and humility, obedience and freedom.

Our Vision is Jesus | January 2012 Thoughts...

[ ]

For fear that the point of this reflection gets lost in a tendency to write with more “literary flourish” than necessary (oh look, I’ve already started), I’ll instead get right to the point:

Our vision is Jesus.

I’ve said this a number of times over the past year, but if there is one thing that I have learned since we started this church, it’s that we live in a city where not many share a similar sentiment. And sadly, I fear that those who claim to, if they were really honest, sense that their vision has gotten a little blurry.

The Gospel of John | John 6.25-71 | Give Us More, Then We’ll Believe. Maybe.

[ ]
24:12 minutes (16.62 MB)

About this Teaching

The second part of John 6 the crowds seek more "signs" from Jesus before they'll believe. Jesus, though, has never been one to play by the crowds rules.

What's on your Christmas list?

[ ]

I came across a great little blog as I was preparing for today, the Advent Sunday of joy, and so I shared this with our church. Here are the opening lines:

I agree that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” But I also quite like to receive, don’t you? And other people who love me want to know what to get me, so I help them by composing a Christmas list. Plus it’s fun to finally just put right down there what I really, really want.

The Battle is Raging

[ ]

I was just listening to a song by Laura Hackett, called "I Put on Christ." I thought I should share it with you all. We've been speaking about the reality of the battle at hand. We are part of a great army. Let's not forget that we are at war constantly and must, therefore, put on Christ everyday. So here are the lyrics:

For the battle is raging
The devil is raging
And I don't want to be sleeping
While the battle is raging

I don't fight as one beats the air
Give me eyes to see and ears to hear
I don't fight as one beats the air
Give me eyes to see and ears to hear
Oh God

Give Him Your Warmest Smile | December 2011 Thoughts

[ ]

The best time of the day is right after nap time. Not my nap time, I’m not a big napper. Ella’s nap time. Somewhere in the house I’ll be working, and the silence of the space will be interrupted by her post nap squawks. Up the stairs and a short walk across the landing, I’ll crack the door to her darkened room. Looking back from the crib below, there she’ll be. It’s the best time of the day.

WWJD, The Archbishop & Macarthur

[ ]

Two unrelated items that jelled over night, and came up at breakfast for discussion at our house.

The Archbishop of Canterbury commented on the WWJD sign that the "Wall Street protesters" are using as one of their slogans. The Archbishop says this question...What would JESUS do? can never be answered.

Yet as I study my BIBLE, the LORD's prayer, the Beatitudes, loving your brother, going the 2nd mile, etc etc the list is long and explains the LORD's desire to each one of us..( Micah 6: 7 ) to do justly, to love mercy, and walk humbly with HIM. Not complex!

Why is the bk of Job so important to you?

[ ]

The Book of Job is a "Love story" between "OUR CREATOR : THE POTTER and a piece of clay.

When THE POTTER is approached by the enemy, this LOVE is rubbed into the enemy's nose.
The retort of the enemy is that this dumb, stupid piece of clay would curse THE POTTER to HIS FACE, if only the glazing (shield of protection and the continuous blessing) would be removed from the piece of clay.

THE POTTER reminds the enemy that the piece of clay LOVES THE POTTER and shuns the enemy at all cost.

Kingdom Entrepreneurs | November 2011 Thoughts...

[ ]

I just arrived home from two days away in Whistler. 15 guys from around the province joined together for two days of prayer and camaraderie. All of us were church planters. Six were bi-vocational (meaning that church planting was just part of how they filled their weeks); two were from the downtown eastside; one was from a plant in northern BC, devoted to the first nations people in the area; and another was spanish speaking, reaching out to the Latino immigrants now living in Surrey.

Being thankful daily not just at Thanksgiving

[ ]

My neighbour stopped by yesterday, and of course the first question in traditional english is :How are you?
my response was that I was thankful! Her response was that of course this week is thanksgiving but that we should be thankful every day.

I was caught by surprise, but she is right.

Thankfulness before GOD, is worship. When we start our day with a thankful heart, GOD is well pleased.

2 Thessalonians 5: 18: In everything give thanks for this is the "will of GOD in CHRIST JESUS " for you!
