Postponed

Due to Covid-19, we will need to postpone our Linwood retreat this year :(  Details will follow later.

_______________

The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.” John 1:43

Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Mark 10:21

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." Matthew 16:24

Our Theme

As I write these words, the world is in a state of turmoil. News cycles by hourly and people are anxious.

And in the midst of this, we hear this still small whisper: "follow me."

But the invitation is double-sided, isn't it?  On the one hand, there is the promise, almost predatory, that in this world we will have trouble. There will be the cross. But on the other, the promise of peace: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

As we follow Jesus, both of these messages are needed. They were needed for those first disciples, living under the shadow of Rome, and they are needed for us and for those we lead.

Follow me.
